Gemcrafting is a Strage Earth custom feature where crafters can apply up to 3 additional properties to crafted and imbued weapons and armor. Looted and artifact armor cannot be upgraded via Gemcrafting. Additionally, items that have been tempered through runic reforging cannot be Gemcrafted.
The process to collect and apply the gemstones requires several different crafting skills and special tools. The gemstones will always apply one of the properties they list in their description, and the flawless/perfect gemstones can apply additional random properties.
There are a few ways to collect gems:
In order to upgrade your gemstones to the next level, you will need to craft a bottle of solvent, which can be found under the alchemy crafting menu under “Strange Brew”. You will need 100.0 skill in alchemy, as well as the following ingredients:
Once crafted, you can double click the bottle which will bring up the crafting gump:

You can apply gemstones to crafted/imbued items regardless of what tier your gemstone is. Flawed gemstones will apply lower intensities than flawless and perfect gemstones. Additionally, flawless and perfect gemstones will apply additional random properties on top of their listed properties.
note - if the properties end up being the same, they will stack.
